In-Depth Protection Assessment Dashboard(IDPs), Alma'affr district of Taiz governorate(UNHCR,HFY) - 22 Oct, 2015

Methodology: 

The assessment majorly covered rural areas of the Al-Ma’afer district of Taiz governorate. The assessment comprised of conducting an in depth protection assessment of 371 individuals (184 male and 187 female) from 58 randomly selected families. Data was collected through interviews with the heads the 58 families (79 % were males and 21% were females).
The Assessment tool used was a structured questionnaire designed to assess the following: demographics, general protection, shelter, vulnerabilities, reasons for displacement and intentions about the future and shelter and trends in displacement.

Key findings: 

- Children are affected the most by the conflicts and are the most vulnerable.
- Women are affected more than men and are more vulnerable.
- The current shelters of the IDPs are of poor quality and inadequate.
- Inadequate Sanitation is a matter of concern from the perspective of personal and environmental hygiene as well as safety of women and children.
- Majority of the IDPs are willing to return to their places of origin but need support to return.
