INTER-AGENCY ASSESSMENT REPORT: Mellit town, Mellit Locality, North Darfur State 14 July 2015

Subject/Objective: 

The purpose of this inter-agency (IA) assessment mission was to establish the humanitarian situation and needs of the newly displaced IDPs in Mellit town

Key findings: 

- Some 250 students among the new IDPs need urgent education support.
- IDPs are accommodated with relatives at rate of 2 – 5HHs per host family who share their limited shelter with the IDPs.
- Need for urgent food assistance
- Health situation of IDPs generally stable but unpredictable due to existing congestion and shortage of essential drugs.
- Partners confirmed availability of sufficient health and nutrition supplies except BP5 for SAM and MAM treatment; consultations; and routine vaccination at their stores.
- IDPs prefer to receive assistance at their current places, due to concerns of insecurity in their places of origin.
- IDPs travel a kilometer to fetch water from the nearest water source.
