Pacific Humanitarian Protection Cluster: Protection Assessment Tools (March 2017)

The Pacific Humanitarian Protection Cluster (PHPC) developed a standard set of tools for a sector-specific Protection Assessment, which can be used as a template by national protection cluster/committee coordination entities, to be tailored as necessary. There are five tools:

Tool A: Population data questionnaire

Tool B : Key informant interview

Tool C: Observation checklist

Tool D: Focus group discussion

Tool E: Urgent action report

The content of these tools derives from the tools of the Global Protection Cluster (GPC), with variations to focus on natural disaster contexts, cluster members' experience in the Pacific region, plus inputs from tools used in recent Pacific disasters. The tools were developed by a working group of the PHPC during the second half of 2016, and were settled in the first quarter of 2017.
