The Advanced Training on Analysis in Humanitarian Settings (ATHAS) Course is designed to improve analysis in humanitarian settings. It refreshes knowledge and skills in specific analysis methods and tools for selected experienced OCHA staff members and relevant operational partners.
It explores the Analysis Spectrum, unpacking the various types of analysis such as descriptive, explanatory, interpretive and anticipatory. The focus of the course is on both qualitative and quantitative analysis outputs.
Participants are offered opportunities to practice various analysis techniques: context, situations including conflict and natural disasters, needs and vulnerability of affected people, potential future risks, situation forecasting, projections and scenarios development, response analysis, population statistics and estimation, data and trends.
