South Sudan Ebola Preparedness Dashboard October 2019

As of 27 October 2019, a total of 3,264 EVD cases were reported in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), including 3,147 confirmed and 117 probable cases, of which 2,181 cases died (overall case fatality ratio 67%). The incidence of new confirmed cases remained steady, with response teams strengthened in hotspot areas. In South Sudan, the total number of alerts reported and verified since the onset of the outbreak in DRC in August 2018 rose to 103. All laboratory tests proved negative, with no confirmed cases. PCR testing for EVD and a suite of 8 other pathogens commenced in Juba, with a subset of specimens sent to the Uganda Virus Research Institute for quality control.  Feasibility assessments to establish sub-national laboratory capabilities in high-risk locations commenced.
