INTERSOS Rapid Education Assessment Report Dibaga Camp, Makmour District, Erbil Governorate May 15th 2016.

Sujet/Objectif: 

a) To gather information on the figures and some quick bio-data about the IDPs community in Dibaga camp;
b) To gather education related information;
c) To identify gaps related to education situation about the recent IDPs emergency;
d) To identify possible education interventions.

Méthodologie: 

- Meetings and sharing of information with Schools principals;
- Meetings with the Camp Manager;
- Visits to the camp;
- Visits to the school inside the camp

Principales constatations: 

Assessment Findings on the following were established:
1.1 General information - individuals living inside the camp, number of children aged between 1 and 5 years old, adolescents (6-17 years), and secondary students.
1.2 School Level Information - Number of schools inside the camp, Name of the school, Typology of School, Number of shift, Number of teachers as of 15th May working inside the school, Ratio teachers vs. students, Number of Drop-out students, Number of Out of School children and adolescents, secondary students, new students not enrolled in the academic year but attending examination.
1.3 Enrollment as of May 15th 2016.
1.4 Support received in the following areas - Building Facilities, Furniture, Educational Material, Training of Teachers and CEC, Water Facilities and Service, Hygiene Facilities and Services, Child Protection Activities.
1.5 Building facilities
1.6 Barriers to Education for those students out of school can be summarized as follows - Lack of funds, educational supplies, including textbooks, transportation (for students living inside the stadium, etc.
1.7 Main intervention needed such as extension of existing schools/additional classrooms, provision of school supplies/textbooks, teachers training, PSS training for students and teachers, etc.
