Pakistan: Situation Update as of 30th of March 2020

  • The Government statistics indicates that 27% of the total confirmed case, were the result of local transmission while rest were imported cases.
  • The statistics indicates that Pakistan mortality rate currently is 1% and recovery rate is 2%, where 0.7% are in critical condition. (all these percentages calculated using confirmed cases figure)
  • The most affected province due to COVID-19 virus is Punjab 593, followed by Sindh 508.
  • A team of Chinese health experts led by Luo Zhaohui, Ambassador of China to Pakistan on Sunday visited National Institute of Health (NIH) for sharing their experiences in managing and combating Coronavirus (COVID-19).
  • Government of Pakistan is working on a plan to provide food ration to the daily laborer which will cost around PKR 50 Billion.
  • Second shipment of medical aid including ventilators (15), face masks (300,000) and N-95 masks (20,000) from china arrived in Pakistan.
  • Punjab Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Ordinance 2020 has been promulgated. The promulgation of this Ordinance will enable the Government of Punjab to take all necessary measures to prevent and protect the public from COVID-19 disease and any such epidemic in future.
  • Registration for Prime Minister ‘Corona Relief Tigers Force’ begins Volunteers will be assigned responsibilities on daily basis
  • The Sindh government has launched an online portal and an application named Sindh Relief Initiative Application, through which welfare organisations can register themselves and work with official authorities to provide food and necessary items to daily wage workers who are unable to find work during the lockdown.
