The targeted areas have been impacted by four displacement waves coming from Faryab, Ghur, Kunduz and Badghis provinces, Almar, Chahar Darah, Chahar Sada, Gurziwan, Jawand, Khuja Sabz Push, Kohistan, Pushtan Kot and Shirin Tagab Districts. The first wave started in 10th of Dec 2016 due to the conflict and the second wave started from 18 of Feb 2017 due to the ongoing conflict and falling more villages under control of Talban.
The screening committee meeting that was held on 28 of Feb-2017 led the team toward the assessment of 1816 families whom have been displaced from above mentioned districts in the result of ongoing military operations between AOGs and ANA. As a summary of the joint assessment 102 out of 428 HHs are selected for the assistance while the joint assessment for the remaining households are still ongoing. This is worth to mention that since beginning of the crises this report is for the third round of distribution as per following details.
1- 220 HH received 8000 AFG on 13 –Feb-2017
2- 140 HH received 8000 AFG on dated 15-Mar-2017.
During interviews, the affected families claimed that there are conflict factors in their original areas which caused them to flee their villages. They said presence of unknown people under name of Taliban and AOGs in their areas made the lives difficult for the civilians. They added, when Taliban attack to capture new villages they directly start with shooting whoever comes in front of them, and they even fired the houses. ANSF started their ground operations too but due to less equipment capacity they are unable to keep these villages under their control for longer time. And when AOGs recaptures these villages they start annoying civilians under different excuses that they are part of government and they help Afghan army. Beside all these, the progress of retaken the villages by ANSF is very slow.
The selected households are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance as they have lost their food Stocks, NFIs, hygiene items and water containers. In addition, they left their live stocks and agricultural lands behind. Report indicates the average household size for this caseload is 5.14 people 100% of the beneficiaries has listed food as their first priority followed by NFIs and Shelter at 74 % and 32 % respectively.
