Tema/Objetivo:

Assessment of the conflict induced IDPs in Maymana city of Faryab province

Metodología:

Household survey

Resultados principales:

As a result of the prolonged conflict between ANA and AOGs massive displacement has been accrued in most districts of Faryab province such as Pushtan Kot, Khuja Sabz Push, Shirin Tagab, Bilcheragh, Almar, Kohistan and Qaisar and districts of Ghor province such as Dolayna and Charsada. Since January 232 petitions have been submitted to DoRR department. The petitions have a high number of households on each of them. In total since the beginning of the conflict and responses during the month of January, NRC has assessed 217 HH and has already assisted 120 HH with UCT with following date:
1. Each 120 HH received 8000 AFS on 18-Jan-2017

The joint assessment team composed of delegations from NRC, Save the children, WAW, DACAAR, WFP-IP & DoRR were continued the process of verification of the remained conflict IDPs house to house inside Maymana city and were selected 220 of HH which conflict begun in Almar District on 1-January-2017. Following, The screen Committee meeting revealed that 232 petitions (consisting of 2745 families) were received. Knowing the urgency, assessment team composed of delegations from NRC, Save the children, WAW, DACAAR, WFP-IP & DoRR conducted the assessment from 11 Jan - 02 Feb 2017. As the result of a house to house assessment and good coordination of humanitarian agencies out of 730 families, 220 families are accepted as guanine IDPs while 510 families failed to meet the ERM beneficiary selection criteria.
24 Houses have been partially destroyed as a result of fighting between AOG and ANA. Some of HHs claimed that they cultivated some plants like wheat, rice, sesame in their origin location but they had to leave them behind and most probably all of them are now damaged. AOGs would definitely create problem for them. They were the only source of income of these affected families and are made worse by the fact that they had spent all their money and time to grow those agricultural lands.

These affected families have been lost all their assets, NFI, food and they are really in need of emergency assistance to receive from government / INGOs. Soon after the joint assessment was completed - based on data analysis 97% of food were identified as first priority and NFI as second and wash as third priorities. Overall, the average household size for this caseload is 5.26. It was agreed in the IDP cluster meeting that NRC should response to food needs while SCI would cover the NFI needs.
