In-Depth Protection Assessment Report, Al Mukalla district, Hadramaut governorate(UNHCR,IOM,INTERSOS) - June, 2015

The objective of the assessment was to guide a tailored humanitarian intervention in the area, which will be designed according to the findings and will aim at providing conflict affected individuals with life saving services and protection.
The three agencies(INTERSOS, IOM and UNHCR) agreed upon selecting the target groups among displaced, refugees and migrants. The three should have been well represented in the report and their different needs and intentions clear to the reader so to tailor the most suitable intervention for all of them. The questionnaire was developed by UNHCR and revised by the other two partners. It was mutually agreed to conduct a general protection assessment and in case more specific protection concerns – SGBV and child protection, for instance – emerged, a more in depth assessment would have been conducted. Questions were tailored in order to be culturally appropriate and do no harm, while still ensuring that adequate information was able to be gathered. The data collection tool was also provided by UNHCR, tailored on the assessment questionnaire and translated into the local language. The data collectors - 8 from Intersos, 1 from UNHCR, 3 from IOM, 5 from local associations –identified 5 schools (Al Huria School, Ba Abood School and Al Shati School – in Al Sharaj district; Ab Dar Alqfani School and Al Tawila School in Fowah district);1 college accommodation in Fluck; 5 Government buildings (1 in Fowah, 1 in Fluck, 1 in Sharaj and 2 in Al Dis); and 3 centers (2 in Khalaf; 1 in Mukalla city) rented by charity associations as the main collection points for displaced, refugees and migrants.
