Al-Dhihar District of Ibb Governorate: Rapid Multi Cluster Assessment, July 2015

Subject/Objective:
Overview: The most important finding of this assessment was that IDPs in camps are being ill treated and humiliated. According to some respondents IDPs are insulted and told that they are like beggars and should be thankful for being accommodated in schools. However, this treatment goes unchecked because there are no supervisors in the camps. This is a major protection issue and should be looked at in more depth. 92% of the respondents said that life in their communities has become worse than what it was a year ago. Increasing prices of fuel or other basic goods, the recent crisis and less opportunities to earn money, came up as the main cause for the worsening situation.
Methodology:
The assessment was carried out in Al-Sabel in Al- Dhihar district of Ibb governorate. Data was collected through interviews with 72 randomly selected key informants (57% male and 43% female) including farmers, teachers, and labourers.
