WASH Cluster Incident Report №146, 25/08/2018

According to the information from Voda Donbasa (VD), a 35 kV Power Line, which supplies Horlivska Filter station #2, was damaged not far from the FS, at approximately at 19.00 on Saturday 24th August 2018. VD was able to switched to a back-up power line (also 35kV), but for unknown reasons, a fire started near this second input and that power line also had to be switched off. As a result, part of Horlivka city in the Non-Government Controlled Area (NGCA); and Toretsk city and Artemove in the Government Controlled Area (GCA) were cut from clean water supply. Horlivska Filter station #2 supplies water to 191,139 people (Voda Donbasa official data).
The reserve power line was repaired and reconnected following repairs that finished at 1.40 am today, Saturday 25th August, and the filter station restarted.
For the moment, the filter station works with only one power line input (the backup) and VD’s specialists are working to identify the exact location of damage and needed work for the main power line.
