Tanzania is a low-income least developed country (LILDC). About 80% of Tanzanians live in rural areas and engage in small-scale rain-fed agriculture for the production of staple food and cash crops, as well as rearing livestock. Its nationwide adult HIV prevalence is 6.2%. As of 2014, an estimated 1.6 million people are food insecure across Tanzania.
