North Kordofan State Flood Impact Rapid Assessment (27 - 30 August 2020)


The main Objectives for conducting this assessment is to determine the magnitude and impact of damages caused by flood and heavy rains that North Kordofan State has witnessed during the last period. Additionally, to physically verify the secondary information and data provided by the affected families in different localities, and to plan the flood response based on accurate information and data.


The assessment followed a Complex Methodology, by using more than one method to collect the information and data, for example: 14 Focus Group Discussions were conducted with 14 different community groups in Sheikan locality, in addition to 6 similar sessions in Um Rawaba locality, and one in each of Um Dam and Sodary Locality.
The second method is a community source and key informant interviews who play critical roles in their communities, in addition to the government authorities in different localities. Lastly, observation methods were used as well as random house-to-house visits. The total of interviews reached 89 persons. While the third method was direct observations by the assessment team.
