Syria: Monitoring Violence against Health Care - Summary Report, July 2016

Monthly Summary Report for incidents reported to the Health Cluster Turkey Hub related to health.


During July 2016, 54 alerts on attacks to the health sector were reported. Twenty four attacks were verified on 22 health facilities and one ambulance center, thirty other attacks are in the process of verication. Of the verified attacks 15 happened in Aleppo, one in Dar’a, one in Homs, one in Hama and 6 in Idleb governorates. Hospital infrastructures were the most affected, 10 of them in Aleppo, one in Dar’a, one in Homs, one in Hama and 4 in Idleb governorates. In addition 2 blood banks in Aleppo and Idleb, the Health Directorate of Idleb, a primary health care center in Aleppo and an ambulance system center were also attacked. Collectively the attacks resulted in killing at least 24 people including 2 health workers and 6 children, and wounding at least 83 including 20 health workers and 3 children. These attacks resulted in the disruption of health services.
