Syria: Monitoring Violence against Health Care - Summary Report, November 2016

Monthly Summary Report for incidents reported to the Health Cluster Turkey Hub related to health.

SUMMARY

During November 2016, forty seven incidents were reported. Thirty were verifed and 17 are in the process of verifcation. Of the verifed attacks 21 health care structures and 21 ambulances went temporarily or permanently of service. 12 happened in Aleppo, 6 in Idleb, 6 in Homs and 2 in Hama governorate. Aleppo, Idleb and Homs were the most affected. Aleppo with 9 hospitals attacked in 12 occasions as well as 1 blood bank and 2 health workers. In Idleb 4 hospitals, 1 PHC were attacked as well as an attack on an ambulance. Furthermore 1 hospital, 3 PHCs, an elderly nursing center and a health staff and one of his family members were attacked in Homs. Collectively, the attacks resulted in the killing of at least 42 people including 3 health workers, and wounding at least 45 including 20 health workers.
