US$50.8 million allocated by the South Sudan Humanitarian Fund since the beginning of 2017

The South Sudan Humanitarian Fund (SSHF) has allocated US$50.8 million so far in 2017 to top priority humanitarian projects, through two standard allocations. Cumulatively over the two allocation rounds, funding has prioritised support to the Health Cluster (16 per cent of all funding allocated), Protection and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (14.2 per cent each), Emergency Shelter / Non-Food Items (12.5 per cent), Food Security and Livelihoods and Nutrition (10.7 per cent each).  unds provided to common services were equivalent to 10.7 per cent of all allocated funding, including support for the transportation of emergency supplies by air and by road, and for the air transportation of humanitarian personnel. In terms  of geographical distribution, priority was given to areas most affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis including Jonglei (29 per cent), Unity (23 per cent), Upper Nile (12 per cent), Central Equatoria (10 per cent), Northern Bahr el Ghazal  and Eastern Equatoria (7 per cent each).

With needs increasing, new contributions from donors are needed urgently to take maximum advantage of dry-season programming opportunities during the final quarter of 2017 and into 2018.
