Summary findings of cross-sectional nutrition surveys, Northern Nigeria (september 2012)

Subject/Objective: 

Anthropometric and retrospective mortality survey was conducted in eight states of Northern Nigeria from 28th August to 5th October 2012. A cross-sectional survey design with two stage cluster sampling method was used. The survey was conducted in Borno, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Yobe and Zamfara states.
The main objectives of the survey were to determine the nutritional status of children under-five years and women 15-49 years. Data were collected from a total of 4,583 households, 7,566 children under-five years of age and 6,043 women of reproductive age. Three local government areas were excluded at sampling stage from Borno state for security reasons, hence the results is not representative of the whole state.
