Flash Update #1 Attack of the village of Ogossagou, Mopti region

Highlights

  • On 23 March, the village of Ogossagou-Peulh was attacked by a group of unidentified armed men
  • This is the deadliest attack since the beginning of the year.
  • As a result, 135 civilians -including children, women, pregnant women- were killed. In addition, local
  • sources reported that several people were burnt to death in their homes. Among the people killed
  • were elements of the DDR (Demobilization, Disarmament and Reintegration) process stationed in the
  • village, according to local authorities.
  • About 55 people have been injured, 42 of whom have been evacuated to the Mopti regional hospital
  • located in Sevaré.
