Shelter Emergency Mapping & Analysis (EMMA) Report

Methodology:
The Shelter and NFI Sector (led by IOM), National Shelter Cluster, IOM, Caritas Bangladesh, CRS, UNHCR, Christian Aid, Save the Children, Handicap International and ECHO conducted a joint- Emergency Market Mapping and Analysis (EMMA) between October 30, 2017 and November 22, 2017. The EMMA is a rapid market analysis designed to be used in the first 2-3 weeks of a sudden onset crisis. Its rationale is that a better understanding of the most critical markets in a humanitarian emergency enables decision makers (donors, NGOs, the government, and other humanitarian actors) to consider a broader range of responses. It is intended to be neither statistically significant nor to replace existing emergency assessments or more thorough household and economic analyses, such as the Household Economic Assessment (HEA). Instead, it should add to the body of knowledge after a crisis.
