Afghanistan Humanitarian Response: Wash Cluster Dashboard - Overall Cluster Figures, Achievements and Funding - (January-December 2016)

The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) remains one of the challenging development and humanitarian issues in Afghanistan. Limited access to WASH means a significant burden of poor health, nutrition, education and protection for children and women. The Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) envisaged a need for reaching 1.02 million people with WASH response in 2016. The Cluster partners have successfully reached more than 898,909 people during the January to end of December 2016. Despite this, there are a significant number of people whose humanitarian WASH needs remained unattended, especially those of conflict affected IDPs living in districts and provinces with limited access to humanitarian agencies due to security concerns. There is a need for continuous engagement of WASH cluster with relevant stakeholders in finding the ways and means to reach those needy population with appropriate WASH response in the upcoming months.
