OCHA Weekly Field Report (31 July - 6 August 2017)

Highlights:

  • Nearly 183,000 people have been displaced in Afghanistan due to conflict this year, up by more than 9,800 compared to last week.
  • Since January, nearly 80,000 undocumented returnees arrived from Pakistan and more than 206,000 from Iran. Further, 43,400 registered refugees have returned to Afghanistan. 
  • After extensive dialogue with communities, SCA was able to re-open all their 20 clinics in Laghman that had been forced to close by NSAGs in June.
  • Five health facilities along Highway 1 in Zabul have ceased operations after members of NSAGs reportedly threatened health workers and ordered them not to report to work.
