OCHA Afghanistan Weekly Field Report Week | 30 October – 5 November 2017

In brief: 

  • As of 5 November, a total of 318,295 people were displaced due to conflict in Afghanistan.
  • More than 21,000 people have been displaced in Kunduz province in the past week, according to initial reports.
  • A total of 862 people spontaneously returned from Pakistan to Afghanistan and another 106 were deported, according to IOM. From Iran, 9,478 people returned spontaneously and 8,605 were deported.
  • Some 760 refugees returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan, according to UNHCR, and 3 refugees returned to Afghanistan from Iran.
  • The humanitarian community is working with the national authorities on a comprehensive winterization plan for more some 78,000 families in need of winterization support in the coming months.
  • Armed clashes continued in Wardak province and families were displaced to Maydan Shahr, however access for humanitarian partners is limited due to ongoing conflict.
