OCHA Afghanistan Weekly Field Report | 28 August – 3 September 2017

Highlights: 

  • Total displacement in Afghanistan this year has reached more than 223,000 people.
  • Intensified military operations in Chardarah district, Kunduz, displaced around 5,200 people, according to first reports.
  • Following flash floods, 221 families have been identified to receive assistance in Laghman, Kunar and Nangarhar. 130 families have already received assistance in a joint response.
  • During the past week, more than 41,000 displaced people, undocumented returnees and refugees received some form of humanitarian assistance across the country.
  • In Paktika, humanitarian partners were reportedly not allowed to assess the situation of some 350 displaced people, out of fear of local elders and representatives of the displaced community from members of an NSAG.
