HEAT assessment for Natural Disaster affected population in Surkhrod district of Nangarhar Province (07 Feb 17)

Key findings: 
Due to recent rainfall and snowfall in Afghanistan, many families were affected in different parts of the country which also include Nangarhar and Kunar provinces. Based in the destructions the governor of Nangarhar called a PDMC meeting on 06 Feb 2017 to plan for delivering assistance to the affected people. Based on the decision taken in the meeting NRC started assessment of in Surkhrood district; the assessment was leaded be NRC and JAA ANDMA and IOM representatives were the members. The team found 3 families affected by the rainfall in Gandachashma village of district. The houses of these families were damaged and their home alliances and food stock were lost. As 3 families and 26 individuals, the average household size for this caseload is 8.67 persons. 67% of the beneficiaries has listed food while 33% listed NFI as their first priority followed by winterization. Recommendations: Base on assessment team’s observations, the families are living in bad condition therefore the team recommended them for emergency assistance.
