You’ve got mail!

It is our great pleasure to announce that, from today, HumanitarianResponse.info is now offering functional email addresses to all clusters and sectors.

For now, any country-level cluster can request one @humanitarianresponse.info address and will benefit from a professional Google Apps Account for free. This service not only includes the unique country.cluster@humanitarianresponse.info email adress, but also offers other secure features such as online collaboration for documents, spreadsheets, presentations & maps, cloud storage and voice & video calls (Google Hangouts). Email addresses will be issued in a standard format, to help ensure predictability between operations, using the ISO-3 country code and standard cluster codes.

Using one functional email account, especially in the early days of a sudden onset, means two important things. First, gone are the days when you would forward 50+ very important messages to you successor’s email as a part of your handover. Instead they can see your correspondence history and know all relevant contacts. Second, the humanitarian community does not need to memorize the email address of each new arrival but rather continue their correspondence with the same address - meaning knowledge management at its best.

The first country-level address has already been issued for the Education Cluster in Nepal. To request YOUR cluster’s email address, simply send an email to info@humanitarianresponse.info and we will set it up for you.

At your service,

The HR.info Team

P.S. A big thank you to the Google Crisis Response Team and the Standby Volunteer Task Force who own the Google Apps Accounts and have kindly extended their use and management to HR.info.
